Compass

Privacy Policy

Effective September 25, 2026

Compass is a family app for tracking behavior, points and goals. It is made by Vanessa Robine ("we", "us"). This policy explains what Compass collects, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.

The short version

What we collect from parents and other adults

What we collect from children

Compass has a kid mode so a child can see their own progress and propose checks for a parent to approve. In kid mode:

Everything Compass knows about a child was entered by a parent. A parent can unlink a child's phone, edit the child's information or delete the child's card at any time from the app.

What we do not collect

No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. Compass does not read anything else on your phone.

How we use it

To run the app: showing your family its points, syncing between family members' phones, and letting a parent approve a child's checks. To keep the service working: standard server logs (such as request times and error messages) that we look at when something breaks. That is all.

Where it lives

Data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on servers in the United States, protected by encryption in transit and at rest and by access rules that limit each family to its own data. Apple processes subscription payments under Apple's own privacy policy.

Who can see it

Only the adults in your family (the Family Head and any Family Members the head has invited), and each child for their own card only. We do not share data with anyone else except the service providers above, who act on our instructions, or where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Deleting a child's card deletes that child's data. Deleting your account deletes your family's data. Server logs are kept briefly for troubleshooting and then discarded.

Your choices

Children's privacy

Compass is designed for parents and is used by children only with a parent's setup and supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without a parent's involvement; the kid mode is built so that no such information is requested. If you believe a child's personal information has reached us in another way, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
